Why We Built This
When people realize something might be a scam, they often don’t know where to turn. They Google it. They ask a friend. They stare at the message and try to figure it out on their own.
We wanted to build something better. Something that gives you an expert-level answer in seconds, not hours. The Scam Assistant is the answer to that problem.
It’s really hard for all of us to identify scams. It’s really hard to know what to do if you click on something you shouldn’t have, shared something you shouldn’t have, or sent money somewhere you shouldn’t have. Scam Assistant is here to help.
How It Works
The Scam Assistant is an AI-powered tool that analyzes anything suspicious you throw at it and tells you whether it’s a scam, what the red flags are, and exactly what to do next.
There are four ways to submit something for analysis:
Paste or type it in. Got a weird text message? A suspicious email? Just copy and paste the text directly into the Scam Assistant. You can also just type a description of what happened. “Someone called me claiming to be from the IRS and said I owe back taxes.” That works too.
Upload a screenshot. See something suspicious on Facebook? A too-good-to-be-true Instagram ad? A strange WhatsApp message? Take a screenshot and drag it right into the Scam Assistant. It reads the image and analyzes the content.
Upload a PDF. Got a suspicious invoice? A fake contract? An “official” letter that doesn’t look quite right? You can upload the PDF directly, and the AI will analyze it.
You can also use voice dictation if you’re on Chrome or Safari. Just click the microphone and describe what happened. This is helpful for those on a mobile device.
What Happens After You Submit
Once you submit something, the Scam Assistant runs through a three-step process. You’ll see a progress indicator so you know exactly where things stand.
Step 1: Analysis. Our detection engine examines everything you submit. It’s looking at language patterns, urgency tactics, impersonation signals, suspicious requests, and hundreds of other indicators that bad actors use to trick people.

Here’s what that looks like in practice. Let’s say you got a phishing email, clicked the link, and entered your email and password before realizing something was wrong. Your action plan won’t just say “change your password.” It will walk you through securing every account that uses that same email, enabling MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) on your most important accounts, checking for unauthorized logins, reporting to the right agencies for your specific type of incident, and protecting yourself against the follow-up attacks that bad actors almost always send after a successful phish.
The plan also includes platform-specific reporting guides. If you got scammed on PayPal, your plan tells you exactly how to dispute on PayPal. Got hit through Zelle or CashApp? Different process, different steps.
